This is one of those "Boy, was my face red" type of story... My son had an opportunity to go to the movies with his friends tonight and I was to drive them. I didn't want to go back to the hotel (we are in town for a competition, for 3 days) so I decided to go to Chapters (a book store) to "kill time". Soon I found a book my colleagues were raving about, and started to read it to see what the hype was all about. So, I'm sitting there in a comfy chair (it' one of those big bookstores with sofas and a coffee shop), and there is this soft Christmas music playing, the book is just amazing, and I'm flying through pages. After a while, I began to notice that the ambiance is a bit off. There is something that truly bothers me... there is this noise, intense and annoying, not calm at all, like that Christmas music they had before. There is a piano, and saxophone, and those string instruments that rip at your ears and drive you up the wall. (forgive me music lovers) I sit there and still try to read, but it's no longer possible, the music bothers me more than I like to admit. Thank goodness there is one of the clerks, walking by, putting books away... so I ask her quietly... "pardon me, would it be possible to change the music?" Oh, it's the performers playing... we have a show... it's artists playing... --- she says! HOLY COW! What do I do now, let me crawl under that sofa! So, feeling my face turning bright red, I squeaked... "sorry, the music was suddenly so intense..., I thougth someone had changed the CD..." She smiled and walked away, good thing I'm not from here... and most likely will not be shopping there again.
