Emergency need of help with electric bill

Times are tough right now with a single income family which includes a precious 18 month old baby boy. We have been trying to make ends meet picking and choosing what bills to pay and what are really necessities in life. We have fallen behind in our electric bill and have received a final notice before disconnection. Now the decision is rent or electricity. It's not in my nature to ask for help but I am in a desperate situation as my 18 month old cannot live without the electricity on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading!
